Bob Moore Kia-Team Telluriders Take on The Rebelle Rally

This 8-day adventure is the first of its kind to offer ladies an opportunity to combine driving and precision navigation in a competitive setting. While the event is not a speed race, it focuses on hidden checkpoints, time, distance, map reading, the use of a compass, and navigation skills to complete this demanding course. The course is comprised of over 1,500 miles of rugged terrain across the Nevada and California desert. It is an opportunity to test one’s skills, stamina, and desire, while surrounded by a group of supportive yet competitive ladies. And best of all, you are driving a really cool vehicle. In the case of Team Telluriders, their vehicle of choice is an awe-inspiring 2020 Kia Telluride.

The challenge begins on October 8th in Lake Tahoe, California. And the finish line will be reached on October 16th at the Imperial Sand Dunes, California. But between Point A and Point B, these ladies will face sand, rocks, heat, blazing sun, and even some very chilly nights out under the stars. And of course, there are no electronic navigation devices allowed. Only the navigation skills and techniques of the past will guide these cutting-edge vehicles around, over, and through some of the most imposing terrain on the planet.

Meet The Telluriders

The ladies in command of the 2020 Telluride are Alyssa Roenigk, a senior writer for ESPN, and Sabrina Howells, a Los Angeles based actor and musician. Alyssa is known for being the only American driver to win the Aïcha des Gazelle Rally in Morocco to date. At the same time, Sabrina competed in the Rebelle Rally in 2016, taking 1st place in the crossover class, and in 2017 she placed second. Both of these ladies are fueled with a passion and desire to bring the 2020 Telluride home in first place this year. They believe that the SUV is well equipped to rise to the occasion and claim the victory.

With two days until the challenge begins, all drivers are at the basecamp, preparing their vehicles and themselves for the obstacles that lie ahead. Starting on the 10th, the ladies will be attacking all that the desert has to throw at them.
